These last few days, I found myself spending way too much time focused on the long list of things in my life I haven’t accomplished.

Littered with sentences that begin with the proverbial, “When I,” “Someday,” or the more toxic, “I should really…” that list seduces me. It disguises itself as a devoted lover but only uses and abuses me. When I’m finished reading it, I frantically collect what’s left of my self-respect as I dash out the door on the walk of shame. I love Twitter for all kinds of reasons but mostly because through it, I’ve “met” some gifted, talented and soulful people.

Who knew how much could be communicated in only 140 characters?

Trust me, as an Italian woman, I was skeptical. I treat words and “characters” like purchases from a veritable dictionary dollar store marked down fifty percent. Turns out, I’m a little fast and loose with both, and indeed, sometimes, less really is more.

Last week, I tweeted the picture of Zuzu from Sacred Sunday. Turns out the editor (@del_editor) of The News Journal follows me. She loved Zuzu’s picture and asked me more about why we had her, where we got her, how old she was, etc. I wrote up a short story in response to her queries, which she loved and immediately asked for permission to publish. To which I said, “Let me ask Zuzu and get back to you.”

Just joshing…I said, “We’d both be flattered!”

Zuzu’s picture and my story are gracing the inside of The News Journal today. In honor of my baby girl, Zuzu’s new found fame, I thought it appropriate to post some pictures from her “portfolio” and give Petals, her pint sized sister, some face time too.

My goats were bought for a very distinct purpose-to surround myself with life affirming things that will encourage and foster a spirit of simplicity. Zuzu and Petals have done just that.

She tells me she spent the night sharpening her hooves in case she is asked for autographs. I didn’t have the heart to tell her she can’t write. Why break the girl’s heart when she’s on top?

Thank you to @del_editor for the opportunity! You are a delightful woman.

Sacred Sunday

This is my goat, Zuzu. When I went to feed her today, I thought immediately of Sacred Sunday. Here she is…
